Skin and Beauty

A desire to improve yourself is not just about vanity.  When we feel good about ourselves it can improve our self-confidence and self-esteem.

As we get older, nature can sometimes need a helping hand and that is where non surgical facial treatments can work wonders. Repeated facial expressions inevitably cause wrinkles and lines to form on the face.
With Botulinum toxin treatments( BTX) and or Dermal fillers, you will have a more youthful appearance, making you feel more confident. The overall effects can be amazing so get ready for younger-looking skin.

Kempston Dental Practice offers wrinkle relaxing treatments by experienced Facial Aesthetics Practitioners, Dr Uma Madhav and Dr Hema Mistry  in a patient focused clinic. Our treatments are carried out using only the best quality materials and equipment. Whether you already have or are considering wrinkle reduction treatment in our clinic, we will welcome you for a consultation giving personalized advice and care.

Muscle Relaxing Drugs

Products like Azzulure ® and Botox® can be used to treat dynamic wrinkles of the face (forehead wrinkles, frown lines and crows feet). It has also been used to treat upper lateral nose bunny lines, lateral chin “marionette lines”, “smoker’s lines” around the mouth , and unsightly neck bands.
It can also be used to treat migraines and excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) of underarms, forehead, nose and face.

What is BTX?
BTX is a purified protein which is administered painlessly into the facial muscles in very tiny amounts to smooth out any lines.

Is it safe?
BTX is a protein that has been used safely for over 30 years without any known long-term problems or side effects.

How does it work?
BTX works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the facial muscles. The muscles are less active and therefore appear smoother and softer.

Who is suitable for this treatment?
At Kempston Dental Practice, we will assess your suitability for our treatments during your consultation.  Most people are suitable other than those who are pregnant or breast feeding.

Is the treatment painful?
No, You may experience a slight temporary discomfort or stinging sensation for a few seconds. We will talk you through what to expect prior to your treatment.

How will I look after the treatment?
There will be slight redness immediately following the treatment.  Wrinkle softening is a straightforward procedure so you can even visit us during your lunch hour.

When will I notice a difference?
It starts to work in 2-5 days. The greatest effect is seen after about 1-2 weeks. At Kempston Dental Practice we will review you after 2 weeks and offer you a complimentary top up if we feel there will be a benefit. Everyone is different so each treatment will be specific to each patient.

How long will it last?
3-4 months depending on each individual’s own response. Repeat treatments have been shown to last longer.

 Dermal fillers

As we age, our face changes and sometimes we would like a fuller appearance. With our dermal fillers, you can have a natural beauty lift with the body’s own material.

What are Dermal fillers?
The Dermal fillers we use are a crystal-clear, non-animal gel based on a natural substance called hyaluronic acid. The gel is administered into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. The result is instantaneous and produces a long-lasting, natural enhancement, safe and gentle to your skin.

How long will it last?
One of the great advantages of the dermal filler products is that they are long-lasting but not permanent.
How long a treatment holds its effect is very variable to each individual. Most patients choose to have a follow-up treatment six to nine months after an initial treatment of wrinkles or facial contouring.

After lip treatments, a repeat treatment is normally needed after about six months. You always have the choice to continue or change the combination of treatments, and the procedure can be repeated as often as you like. You are always in charge of your looks. Dermal fillers give you that all-important flexibility.

What you may be wondering?
Achieving the look you desire is as easy as it is quick. We would firstly start by applying a local anaesthetic gel in the region. This will safely and painlessly allow us to artistically place a special ‘gel like’ product into the lip borders, lip body and the mouth creases as appropriate. The result is instantaneous. When administered into the skin, the dermal filler produces volume that smoothes the wrinkle or fold shapes the facial contour or enhances the lips in a natural way.

I’m worried that I will end up with a  ‘Trout Pout’?
Rest assured following an extensive assessment we will aim to meet your expectations being mindful not to over contour the lips. In this way we can avoid over bulking out this sensitive area.

After Treatment:
Immediately after the treatment, you can expect a slight redness, swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area so you may decide not to return to work that day. When it comes to lip augmentation, the swelling may last longer. Some patients experience swelling for about a week.

Can both these treatments be used together ?
These treatments are complimentary to each other and it has been reported that dermal filler products such as Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, Radiesse last longer when administered in combination with BTX. This is because the continuous movement of the muscles is eliminated by BTX, slowing the body’s breakdown of the filler.

Note: It is possible to have Botox and dermal filler treatment done at the same appointment.
